Technology

Here's my first blog, and let's hope this won't be my last. You know those internet police, how they try to silence those of us who think differently. I've been thinking about doing this for a while and finally it's come to a head and I'm diving in. Not that it's all that complicated these days, creating a blog, but I've just been so busy with everything going on in my life that I just haven't had the time to do it.

What I'd like to do here, is to post my thoughts on my specialty, which is helping out small businesses with Technology. Everyone wants the "Big" company look, but not everyone can afford it and many times it's just not practical to have, say an Exchange Front end and Back end server, when all you need is simple hosted mail for 3.

I'm not exactly sure what articles to post about, but I'd like to hear from you guys on what you would like to hear about. Emailing issues?, Identity Management?, Server Issues, Backup Issues, Support Issues. Whatever those issues are, I'd like to hear from you and help out with the NeX Blog, (pun intended)

Google World Domination

Well folks, it's official, we no longer need to worry about Democrat Conspiracy's, rising oil prices, the Bush family wars, Iran, or even Nuclear Holocausts, no the number one threat on the radar screen right now is Google. With their Massive and growing Armies, they intend on full domination of the internet and, by proxy, the world. How will they do it you ask? One mailbox at a time.

It's no secret that Google has been snapping up other company's like it's going out of style, first there was just a couple of acquisitions in 2001, then they picked up the pace a bit in 2003, started making larger investments in 2004 and started spending Billions in '05 & '06. So far though, in '07, they've managed to purchased even more company's than they did in 2006, and it's not even over. They're making Microsoft look like the poor kids that used to come to school with the wrong sneakers on. You know who I'm talking about, you even used to make fun of them, what was that song, "If your Skippy's flip and flop, take 'em back to Stop & Shop". Boy were you mean!

The following is a sheet of the acquisitions made by Google over the past few years.

Well, it's not all bad, practically everything Google makes runs on both Windows and Linux, from Picassa to Google gears, so if you were to utilize their services, such as Gmail, Google Apps, Blogger, Utube, Reader or any of the other myriad of applications they have available, then you and your team don't have to have a Windows machine, it could be a Linux box, and THAT of course will save you money. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves, in the NeX blog, we will start with Gmail, and how you and your company can benefit from this useful tool. What??? Did you expect otherwise, you know the old saying, "If you can't beat 'em, Join 'em!" Until NeX time....
